 Dandelion
The dandelion is a perennial weed that reproduces by seed. It grows in all types of soil. It grows quickly and suffocates surrounding grass. Dandelions have a central taproot that can grow quite deep on large plants. When weeding by hand make sure the taproot is removed at least 10 cm (4 ”) from the surface. Dandelions are relatively easy to control with a single application of Lawn WeedOut®.

Plantain
Plantain is a perennial weed that reproduces by seed. It grows in all types of soil. It grows quickly and suffocates surrounding grass. Plantain has many strong, fibrous roots hold the plant firmly in the soil making hand weeding difficult. Plantain is relatively easy to control with a single application of Lawn WeedOut®.

Chickweed
Chickweed is an invasive weed with small, broad leaves and white flowers. Chickweed spreads by seeds and roots and forms a dense mat. There are both perennial and annual species. Chickweed will send out new roots where the stem touches the soil. When hand weeding pick up plants as they can sprout new roots. Chickweed will often require more than one application of Lawn WeedOut® for control.

Purslane
Purslane is an annual weed with fleshy leaves and stems form a dense stem mat. Stems have a reddish-brown colour and will sprout roots where they touch the soil. Purslane is not usually a problem in thick healthy lawns but will thrive in thin compact lawns. When hand weeding pick up plants as they can sprout new roots. Purslane will often require more than one application of Lawn WeedOut® for control.

Black Medic
Black Medic is an annual weed that is commonly confused with clover. Leaves grow in threes on stems but have yellow flowers. It grows well in lawns that are compacted and are infrequently fertilized. Aerating compact soil and following a 4-step fertilizer program is key for long-term control. Hand weeding can be effective if you only have a few weeks, unfortunately Black Medic can grow back from roots left in the soil. Black Medic will often require more than one application of Lawn WeedOut® for control.

Creeping Char lie
Creeping Charlie is a perennial weed that forms a dense mat that suffocates surrounding grass. It roots and produces stems at each leaf node that touches the soil. When hand weeding pick up plants and remove runners as they can sprout new roots. Creeping Charlie will often require more than one application of Lawn WeedOut® for control.
